Genus
of the Week.
Genus of the Week was an idea promoted to the members by Stephen Kemp of Sydney, NSW, Australia. His initial suggestion was for the large genus Dendrobium to be covered (in Orchid Guide Digest V1 #53 - 7 Sep 1999).
"Here's an idea. Let's choose a genus and discuss it: say genus of the week.
OK I'll start...dendrobiums. No, let's not wander into the classification minefield. I hope the discussion becomes informative, not contentious.
Here's a start: if you had the opportunity to add one dendrobe to your collection, what would it be (Species or hybrid) and why? Mmmm...my first thought is Den. adae as it is another with attractive flowers and perfume and it is also one I'm struggling to grow from seedling size.
Cheers...Steve"
Thankfully, most of the members chimed in, and their thoughts are presented here for people to view. Some interesting commentary here.
Below is a list of the genera chosen, and a link to the page where these thoughts are discussed.
Coming soon...
The following discussions are planned over the next couple of weeks:
